UptimeRobot Monitor Not Working – Troubleshooting Guide

Learn how to troubleshoot if your UptimeRobot monitor is not working or failing to check website, server, or API uptime.

There could be several reasons why your monitor is not working correctly. Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot the issue:

1. Check Monitor Details:

You can find specifics like timestamps, reasons, and durations in your Dashboard under each monitor. This information can help pinpoint the issue.

2. Monitor Showing “Preparing”:

The first check for a new or resumed monitor runs about 10 seconds after creation, regardless of the interval you’ve set. If your monitor still appears grey and shows “preparing” an hour later, that’s not expected — please contact our support team for assistance.

3. No Notifications Received:

If the monitor is down and you haven’t received any notifications, ensure that your alert contact is active and correctly attached to the monitor.

4. Pause and Restart:

If the monitor doesn't start right away, try the following:

  1. Log in to the UptimeRobot dashboard.

  2. Locate the affected monitor.

  3. Pause the monitor.

  4. Resume (start) the monitor again. After completing this process, monitor the monitor's status in the dashboard to ensure stability and functionality.
