With the introduction of our new plans, we have provided various options for seats. Each type of seat, whether a sub-user or a notify-only seat, allows for the addition of one email address and one phone number.
UptimeRobot's sub-users and notify-only seats are two different ways of sharing account access with your team members or other stakeholders. Let's break down the difference:
Sub-Users
Sub-users are additional user accounts that can access your UptimeRobot account with different levels of access and permissions. You can create sub-users, assign them to specific roles, and set up their access permissions as per your requirements.
The roles available for sub-users can be:
Admin: Full account access, including the ability to manage monitors and team settings.
Write: Can view and edit monitors, but can not manage settings and account-related tasks.
Read: Can only view monitors, logs, and settings, but can't make changes.
Admin role sub-users can manage alert contacts in monitors, including those from other users in your team. They can also manage your team and its members, such as sending invites, modifying roles, and removing them from the organization.
However, sub-users with the admin role cannot edit integrated tools (like Slack, PagerDuty, etc.), which are configured at the main account level. Only the main account holder can add, modify, or delete integrations. Also, they don't have the privileges to edit the billing section and don't have access to invoices.
Notify-Only Seats
β
Notify-only seats are additional email addresses and phone numbers that receive alerts and notifications from your UptimeRobot account. However, they don't have access to your account settings or dashboard. Notify-only seats are ideal when you want to keep stakeholders updated about your system's status without providing them access to your UptimeRobot account.
In summary, sub-users have more privileges, including the option to access your UptimeRobot account and manage monitors, alerts, and settings. Notify-only seats, on the other hand, only receive alerts and are not allowed access to your UptimeRobot dashboard or settings.
β
βNote: Sub-users with login seats own their accounts in UptimeRobot. This means they can add and manage monitors under their accounts independently. However, to use features paid for by the main admin, they must switch to the admin team. Any features that the main admin has subscribed to do not apply to the sub-user's own monitors unless they also have a higher-level plan themselves.
This distinction is important to bear in mind; while sub-users can contribute substantially to the management of team monitors, their own monitoring is governed by the terms of their own UptimeRobot subscription.
