If a card payment fails, you'll see an "Oops! Payment didn't go through" message asking you to check your card details and try again, as shown below.
Common Reasons a Card Payment Fails
Your card has expired.
Insufficient funds, or the charge exceeds your card's spending limit.
Your bank is blocking the charge — this happens most often with recurring subscription charges or charges from a foreign country.
3-D Secure verification (the extra confirmation step your bank may require) wasn't completed.
What to Do
Double-check your card details are correct and up to date, then retry the payment.
If your card is expired or close to expiring, update your card details.
Contact your bank to confirm they're not blocking the charge, especially if it's a recurring or international payment.
If you have another card available, try that instead. If you'd like to change your payment method entirely, reach out to our support team.
What Happens While You Sort This Out
A failed payment doesn't downgrade your account immediately — there's a short grace period during which your paid features stay active while you fix the issue. If the payment still hasn't gone through by the end of the grace period, your account is downgraded to the Free plan. If you have more monitors than the Free plan allows, all of your monitors are paused, not just the ones over the limit. [link: downgrade article]
When to Contact Support
If you've checked your card details, retried the payment, and confirmed with your bank that nothing is blocking the charge — but the payment still fails — please reach out to our support team and we'll help you sort it out.
