This article covers the older Slack webhook method, shown as Slack webhook (legacy) on the Integrations page. We now recommend the Slack integration instead: it connects in one step and tells you if the connection breaks. Existing Slack webhook integrations keep working, and you don't need to change anything.

In your UptimeRobot Dashboard, navigate to 'Integrations' and click 'Add' next to Slack webhook (legacy). ​

A window will open, containing a link that redirects you to the Slack 'Incoming Webhooks' section. ​

In Slack, start by creating a new app. Enter the name and any other necessary details.

In the left-hand menu, select 'Incoming Webhooks' and toggle the switch on to activate them. ​

Scroll down the same 'Incoming Webhooks' page and click 'Add New Webhook'. ​

Set 'Channel to Post' and click 'Allow'. ​

Slack will generate a Webhook URL. Copy this URL. ​

Return to the UptimeRobot Dashboard and paste the copied URL into the 'Slack Webhook URL' form. ​

(Optional step) You may set a 'Custom Value' if you want, but this is not mandatory.

All types of notifications (DOWN, UP, SSL, and domain expiration) will be enabled by default, but you can alter these settings according to your needs.

Integrations on the Slack webhook (legacy) card continue to work as they are. If you'd like to switch:

Leave your webhook integration in place for a few days and confirm alerts are arriving in the right channels. Both can run at the same time, so you'll get each alert twice while you check.

Once you're happy, delete the integration from the Slack webhook (legacy) card. This doesn't affect the Slack app.
